Cask (Cricketer’s, Southampton) - Dark brown with red tinges. Dried fruit and marzipan in the aroma. Liquorice, roasted malt and chocolate in the taste. The finish is fruity and roasted.

Cask at Southampton Arms. Dark brown with almost no head. Aroma is dark fruit, and a bit of sweet maltiness. Bit grainy too. Taste is much the same, sweet and fruity. Bit of sugarry tea, and lots of oat. Maybe some liquorice. Texture a bit oily. Not bad.

From cask at Market Porter. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small white head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and slight breadish. Light caramelish. Mild yeasty fruity. Caramelish and slight fruity flavoured. Bitter and dry roasted malty finish.

Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Tawny to chestnut with white head. Good fuller type premium bitter with a berry fruitiness and a goodly taste of alcohol. Plenty of body with grainy malt notes. Pretty decent.

Cask @ The Old WEllington Inn, Manchester M3. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty aroma with hints of caramel. Roasted malty slightly smokey flavor with hints of caramel and chocolate. Has a roasted malty caramel finish.

Clear medium brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, coffee, vanilla notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is sof to flat. [20090102]
