Light bitter taste with an excellent honey nute in palate. White and thin foam stays for 90 seconds. Dark-caramel, somewhat blacky colour. Really good beer, worth trying!

Mørk brun, nesten Svart med høyt kremete beige skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, jord og kaffe. Fyldig. Noe salt smak, lett bitter medium lang avsluttning.

Bottles from Fenwick Newcastle and Booths, Keswick. A very dark brown, almost black beer with ruby red highlights, pouring with a white creamy head. It has a burnt toffee, currants and malty flavour, roasted notes and a nutty, smooth and honey finish.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Ales by Mail. Pours clear brown with a creamy tan head. The aroma holds toasty brown bread, caramel and burnt leaves. Medium sweet flavor with simple, sugary chocolate, toasted caramel, dates, very mild leafy and earthy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes sweet with some pleasant dark berry notes, some dusty cocoa, caramel, mellow hop presence. Very simple but also quite drinkable.

Poured a dark brown with a ruby tinge, not a black stout. Tan coloure head.
Aroma of chocolate malts and smoke tinge. Taste of chocolate malts, light smoke, cocoa. Pleasant Stout.

Pours black with a nice thick white foamy head. A full chocolatey aroma. Sharp taste with some nutty undertones and alcohol. Not great but OK.

Cask in the Bon Accord, Glasgow as Skye Black. Pours mahogany with a thin cream head. A little sharpness to begin with before some roasty flavour. May have been past its best.

Bottle 500 ml at the Saucy Mary’s Lodge, Kyleakin. Looks it’s rebranded to Skye Black now. Pours dark amber brown with beige head. Roasted malts, caramel, dark fruit bit of honey.

Bottle on Skye. Clear deep red with a small beige head. Aroma of light roast mal notes, honey, some toasted malt. Flavour is roast malt, sweet berry notes, some honey. Nice balance between the roast malt and sweetness. Little bitter kick into the finish.
