The first of three new Scottish beers at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto. I tried this beer on March 20, 2008. The beer poured a blackish-brown with a creamy tan head that lasted throughout. The aroma was roasted malt, some licorice hints, and some hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium carbonation, and some sourness on the sides of the tongue. The flavour was malty, and nutty with continued sourness.

Got this in my Cropredy swapbox from Craig, aka cgarvieuk, cheers Craig. Pours chesnut brown with off white head. Really quite oaty tasting (picked that up straight away) slight fruity sourness on nose. Very tasty beer, good malts and oats nice soft bitterness, this is a lovely beer.

(Rating #1864)

Bottle, from the grocery store in Portree (a Co-op maybe?), Isle of Skye. Dark brown, Lots of nice sticky tan head. Dry toasty saltine cracker aroma, warm wholesome raw grain porridge, touch of briney chocolate. Gentle, pleasing dark bread and chocolate roast flavor, a nice grape tartness. Good full mouthfeel while remaining very morish. Not showy, but quietly a really solid beer, and it seems to have survived filtering rather well.

I also remember having this with Cullin Skink on the bay in Portree, and it stood up nicely to the cream and smoke.
