Aromas of overripe fruit. Medium body with a very low carbonation. Flavours also of overripe fruit, wood noble rot and a sherry like edge. Some hops in the finish. Very British and very fascinating. 251106 SSSteve (2062), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Bottle. Strongly boozey nose with a hefty dose of malt and sweet flowers. Fruity and lightly yeasty. Amber pour with an enormous (overdone, really) creamy beige head. Berries, hops, nuts more noticable in the mouth than in the aroma. Lightly woody with essence of dark pitted fruits. Very soft, smooth drink, but a little bland. Vaguely malty with alcohol overtones. Essentially medium body and slightly hoppy finish, but not really dry. Caramel and toffee aren’t really here. BeerHound53 (24), USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Nice amber color, large slightly off white head that had a good hang time then faded slowly to leave a decent lace behind. The aroma was the aroma was malty with a nice sweet fruity side. The flavor was malty with a nice fruity bubble gum flavor with plenty of sweetness going on and after a short while it starts to change to a slight bitter sweet taste with a slight warming effect from the alcohol, but it’s very slight.I don’t know,i guess i wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s some great fantastic brew but it definately is pretty good and well worth having again. The thing is it is more of a winter brew then summer IMO. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 22, 2006 This beer was frusturating, because it was close to being good. Pours with an appetizing appearance, amber with a thick off-white head. The aroma was surprisingly pleasant with a thick maltyness and some earthy spices. Then the flavor, a dissappointment. Has an upfront, slightly roasty butterscotch/malt character, which I expected to expand in complexity, however, it just abruptly becomes a bit thin in flavor, with a "vacantness" then contrasts into an awkward bitter finish with a slightly metallic suggestion. There’s maybe a drop of peppery spicyness. Close to being a "good" beer, not bad though.
