jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA Apr 16, 2006 bottle labeled wee beast...nice fluffy beige head stands over a well-carbonated copper liquid. slightly malty mostly fruity aroma, and it also smells a bit like "bottle" if that makes any sense at all. as a scotch ale, i expected much more intense malt and did not find it - some peat and scotch-liquor-like flavors, but not particularly thick and malty like it ought to be. glad i tried it as this is one of my favorite styles, but this beer is not a shining beacon for Scotch Ales. erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Apr 13, 2006 Pours a med. light amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma is intensely floral with notes of dates. The body is much thinner than I would expect from a Scotch Ale. The flavors are heavily fruity, yeasty, and floral with a smoothness,....where’s the malt? A very interesting beer but a poor example of the style. Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 12, 2006 Aroma was a mildly detergent tinged caramel maltaffair. Orange/amber body with a fluffly, three finger thick head that is mostly lasting. Shard, mildly acidic malt fore is followed by tart fruity notes and nearly syrupy caramel malt. Lacks some of the assertiveness of other Scotch Ales I have tried. Just kind of sits there. Other than the a bit of alcohol and some perfumey notes it lacks any stand out asspects. Still it doesn’t taste bad and I imagine it would pair nicely with food. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Apr 8, 2006 Updated: Oct 26, 2007I really enjoyed this one, it poured a good looking beer with a solid head. The aroma was nice and fruity, taste of very clean malts with a tangy after taste.
Nice and flavorful legion242 (1572), Richardson, Texas, USA Mar 15, 2006 Pretty disapointing. When I get a "wee", I expect more sweet malt, but this one was all normal malt with some hops thrown in. Poured cloudy with a nice head. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Mar 13, 2006 Poured a muddled, copper/brown with a medium-sized, ecru head. Caramel aroma seems sweet yet stale. Predominantly pruney flavor with sour orange, dirty/earthen notes and a finish that I found gritty. I feel that the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beerimages/full size/34631.jpg>American bottle has a better representation of the beast.

jaymobrown (1343), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 12, 2006 Wee Beast: Poured a dirty cola, muddy river looking. Very dirty, but yet somehow appealing. Thick maltiness, chewy caramel, fizzy bubbles. Coffee. But, mostly a malt, bread flavor with a minor bitter end. Some interesting balance. Quite nice. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Mar 9, 2006 My bottle was a Wee Beast, but I like this unpronounceable name. Great pour, a date colored body with a Huge, rocky beige head that laced my glass in chunks. The nose is caramel/toffee with a mild earthy bitterness and the merest trace of smoke. There’s a citric sweetness and tartness to the taste along with the caramel and an intensified bitterness, which lingers in the prolonged finish. Nice.
