Sort of an apple cider aroma with touch of hops. Light bodied, dryish, and a little fruity-strawberries, with a delicate malt/hop balance and quick finish. Decent tasting beer but not particularly my idea of a Scottish ale. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Clear bronze body under a very fluffy white head that leaves all sorts of lacing. Sugary sweet flavor aroma: tulips, powdered sugar and caramel. Herbal, grassy bitterness comprises the bulk of the flavor with slightly ashy, dry caramel malt sulking in the background. The tulips come back in the finish to add a fruity sense. A weak-kneed Scotch, I like mine sweeter and with more of a smoked or peat presence. I can get hops elsewhere! SilkTork (4205), Rochester, Kent, England

Golden deep colour. A fragrant jasmine tea flavour. Interesting. Our man Tony from Louisiana looked after us all day - advising us what was coming on and what was about to go off, fetching us the last drops from casks and always going the extra mile. Awesome man to have on your side at a festival. [3.1] And again... White Cliffs Winter Ales Fest. Gravity. Pleasantly soft and fruity, especially considering the strength. Not bad. Lingers pleasantly. [3.0] edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 27, 2004 This bottled brew poured a very small head of fine to large sized mostly lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body was a hazy semi-opaque brown color with no visible carbonation. The aroma was malty doughy and contained a hint of nutmeg. The palate is sharp tingly mildly hoppy and finished with a tad of caramel. The flavor contains notes of mild hops malts dough and a mild caramel finish. ChristianScheffel (4689), Odense, Denmark

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2005 Highly filtered amber, much paler than expected, but the head does look pretty big and wonderfully coating the glass. Oaty and bready nose with a very spicy aspect to it, kind of herbal and earthy, biting and at times reminiscent of ginger or sage. Quite dry on the palate, once again a surprise. Malt richness feels a bit limited, mostly biscuity and orange-like. More yeast character than most. Pretty smooth palate finishing with a bite of astringency that doesn’t really disturb. Finishes a bit short, malty and dry. Engelsmann (653), Copenhagen, Denmark
