3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2008 (Bottled) Clear, dark ruby with a medium, quite firm and lasting, lacy head. Mild, sweet-sourish, caramely-malty and roasty, slightly earthy-peaty aroma. Toffee-caramely-malty, earthy flavor with nutty hop bitterness and some tar. Light to medium-bodied, a bit thin and quite carbonated palate. Distinctively Scottish, and reasonably tasty for the ABV. Still a bit too weak and watery to be enjoyable.
(Bottled, rated 1/10/2004, was 5-3-6-3-12=2.9) Dark red, a little hazy. Off-white, quickly vanishing head. Interesting, hoppy aroma with something I cannot really describe. Smooth, soft taste with lots of malt and a bitter finish. Feels quite thick (physically), sticks to your gums. Not bad, but didn’t really like the added strange flavor.
