Bottle, Inspire, Coventry, 22/02/12. Murky amber with a white halo. Smoked beeswax aroma.Tang of sour; distant smoke, more wax. Fizz and brass. Good smoky linger. Finally quite gueuzey. Plain weird. And there’s nowt wrong wi’ that.

Slightly hazy, reasonably well carbonated but not excessively with a modest head that lingered throughout. Fairly pale and slightly hazy. Smoked peat is the dominant aroma here - Woody, creosote (in the positive sense), citrus hints ever so slightly acrid. In taste, this is both bitter and a little sour - whisky-like. A smoky aftertaste lingers. Perhaps smoked ale is an acquired taste but of the few smoked beers I have tried, I quite like this - relatively low in alcohol but full of flavour.
