Pours the color of crushed up salmon eggs....hence the roe ale. Aroma is quite floral and different. Flavor is a bit roasty, some caramel, and some piney and floral hops. A little heavy on the carbonation, finishes with a good bitter. Not bad. Bradrcr (779), Renton, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2009 9/3/09 from 22oz Bottle. Aroma is excellent and highly unique. You first catch a sweet cream/vanilla note, and as you press your nose further into the glass you catch caramel, Vienna roast and light peppery notes. Appearance is clear copper with a fluffy cream colored head. Flavor is more roast dominant, but still with substantial sweetness and a more floral medium bittering than one would expect from the aroma. Mouthfeel is medium-high bodied with a medium carb texture and light graininess. Overall, a deceptively complex beer that rewards those who pay attention to their palate and taste with their nose.
