Was a 50/50 blend of the Colón and Cocle to make a nice reddish-brown color. Got some needed dryness from the Cocle for the sweetness of the Colón. Had those green fruity esters that I so wanted to mistake for house character. Drinkable enough.

Clear amber color, good beige head. Nose has some wort and hints of vegetables. Medium-bodied. Crisp. Malty, some caramel, but not really sweet. Light bitterness in the finish. Dusty notes.

Draught at the brewpub
Cloudy amber color. Almost no aroma. Soft flavor, light residual sweetness, some light malt, and this one as well is spoiled by a light sourness, due to some infection.

Here they bring out samples of the three beers that they are currently offering. We felt that this was the best of the three, so ordered a liter. The problem with all three beers is that the yeast elements are too strong (think overripe banana) and the beer is a bit too sweet, with not enough hop backbone. I imagine that this is due to brew temperatures and humidy too high in this muggy coastal tropical climate. This beer was bronzy with an off white head, and on the mouth was hard with the banana yeast elements, but there was a hint of the brewed tea flavors that I loke from Descutes Mirror Pond. I don’t know why they decided to almost completely forgo hops in the mix, because I think that this might be a more solid beer if they did. It was hard to finish the liter, especially as the beer warmed on our table. But alas, this is better than the exceptionally corn and dirty sock offerings from Panamanian macro brewers.
