(Bottle) Only has a light aroma but it’s hoppy. The flavour is too and finishes with a sharp bitterness.

The first of several disappointing cask beers at the Haymarket bar. Usually the standard is better. It’s pale, golden with a decent head. The nose and taste show some nice hoppy flavours, though the finish of the palate is a little cloying for this style. Overall, not bad but didn’t get another.

Cask conditioned at The Chequers, Oxford. Gold with white head. There is a heavy tartness to this, scented, peachy and slightly sicky. Late bitterness, really not to my taste. Poorish.

Cask (Mitre, Cambridge)
Peach and a hint of banana in the aroma - very fruity. Nice real head, not a sparkler - hoorah, but a pale yellow. Peachy finish, lasts a while. Really light and pleasant in the mouth. Refreshing. Yum! This is what golden ales should be like.

Hand pulled at The Southwark Tavern, Borough. Clear amber ale with minimal anything. MOR. It is not its fault but it suffers because I just had a top drawer Kernel. Palate’s expectations were raised by that. This is meh, as the kids say. Maybe.

Cask conditioned handpump Victoria Leeds 12/12/12. A golden coloured beer with a white head. A really interesting beer. Soapy with parma violets. Bizarre and endearing. The hops which are bizarre totally shine. I was warned off this but I really enjoyed it. Wouldn’t session it but as a half it was very pleasant.
