Clear medium orange colour with a small to small average, frothy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, fruity, ginger. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110801]

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Straw with a thin white head that laces the glass; perhaps a touch of ginger to the aroma, but definitely some stewed vegetables; thin with some ground ginger flavour, and some corn syrup sweetness; the finish has cardboard and definitely no ginger. Disappointing.
