COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Autumn brew exclusively for Mitchells and Butlers. Again just one hop – this time the dramatic Junga hop from Poland.

Half pint at the Oakford Social in Reading. Black with a bubbly head. A hint of smoke, also bitter and dry. Spiced and hoppy aroma. Not particularly impressive.

Cask in The Dog & Duck. Colour is dark brown, off white thin head. Nose is chocolatey malt, caramel malt, toasty, roasted malt, some fruitiness. Taste is chocolate malt, dab of coffee and roasted malt, caramel. Body is light. Nice beer, almost a porter.

A dark bitter, with a very light non-descript aroma. Coffee flavours with a very light toffee and bitter finish.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2013 Cask@Thebell, Walsall. Very dark brown colour with medium sized beige head. Decent lacing. Aroma is of dark roasted malts and coffee, a little bit of smoke. Taste is quite bitter with smoked dark roasted malts to the front and coffee, maybe a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is the weakest part, could be more fuller in the body. A very good drink one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

cask mid brown no head to speak of . I must have had a bad one smelt vinegary and tasted same . Certainly not my idea of a smoked ale will have to try again to make sure it is not as bad as I think it is

Smoked? SMOKED?? I haven’t got a clue. Give me a blind tasting session and I’ll be calling Carling Hardcore and Bourbon County Hooch. I’m a joke.

Cask @ The Queens Arms. The pour’s deep chestnut brown with a small, creamy white head. The nose is very faint baked brown bread. some smoked ham and burning wood. The taste is mild creamed coffee, more smoky ham. Hints of red berry and mocha. The body’s very smooth and drinkable. Still, this is pretty thin in flavor and profile. Overall, this doesn’t make a wrong step, it’s just not my thing. OK.

Cask at Rose and Thistle Frimley Green. Pours a black colour with a slight red tint, aroma is malty and has some smoke, taste is malty and bitter, with a dry watery finish. This is not a session beer to me.
