Appearance - opaque black with a nice olive skin sheen. Nice head.
Nose - dark chocolate with a hint of coffee.
Taste - chocolate, toffee and honeycomb. Crunchie Bar.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish.
Overall - nice complex toffee stout.

Poured almost completely opaque black with a small beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and roast malt. Medium body, flavour as the aroma.

Cask at the Dog & Duck Soho. Black, small foamy dirty ashy off-white head, full lacing. Aroma is a little malty, not much going on. Body is medium, quite foamy, low carbonation. Taste is light molasses, semisweet, some ash, soft malt, tangy raisin, not bitter. Classic stout.

Stouts are always powerful & only for sturdy men (& sturdy feminists). This drink was really more of a Russian ’Nuclear’ Winter - plenty of bite and strength. Best enjoyed after downing a shot of vodka.

On cask at Victoria Station JWD. Appearance: cola black with a cola coloured tiny head. Aroma: a slight hint of coffee, a little soapy too. Flavour: vegetal, bitter with coffee dregs, fairly soapy too with a long instant coffee and hop finish. Odd.

Cask, The King’s Head, Leicester. Near black with a beige foam. Aromas are coffee and dark berries with floral notes. Mild liquorice with earthy aspects and nutty cocoa. Flavours are raisins and blackberry with dark chocolate and gritty coffee. Some background toffee. Nice.
