3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle; as St Nick’s Tipple, and at 5.3% (but I assume it’s the beer listed here!); very dark, just a hint of amber glow around the edges; no head; aroma of dark chocolate; taste is smooth bitter dark chocolate and coffee, dark fruits; mouthfeel is quite light for a stout but this makes it easy to drink; I liked it.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask conditioned at The Crown, Oxford. Amber with slight head. Rough, tart, over fruity, sour cherries but in a bad way. Nicholson’s are now charging £3:55 a pint in here and serve beer this bad, sorry but not good enough.
