Tasted by half-pint at the Magpie&Crown, Brentford, W. London. Served by a handpump. Appearance: translucent, dark amber hue, coming with a nice foamy head and low carbonation. Smell: like another Itchen Valley’s beer tasted immediately before this one ("Wykehams Glory"), the nose is full of aromatic floral hops, which falls behind a sweet peary fruitiness. Simple in composition, but very harmonious and pleasant. Taste: biscuity malts with a mildly caramely edge leads the palate, quickly ensued by a mildly citric, tangy taste of hops and more Fuggles-like bitterness in the end. Good structure. Palate: softly fizzy on the mouthfeel, light-bodied, refreshing... This bitter comes with a good flavour profile and enough hop presence to make it taste more interesting (besides being fresher and nicer in condition) than the Wykeham’s Glory tasted immediately beforehand, hence slightly higher in total score. Not bad~~
