Cask, handpump at The Palace, Kirkgate, Leeds, W.Yorks 18.03.12 in company of dad & Barry Dark, dark brown in colour with a small creamy head. Touch dry and roasty with some bitterness, and a dab of creamy vanilla. I get the treacle but only slightly. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

On tap at the Haymarket Bar. Pours opaque black with a proportionate head. The nose is smokey, sweet and milk chocolate, in fact it’s Crunchie Bar. The taste has treacle, smoke and cream. The palate is medium to large in both structure and texture. There is a lovely smooth, charcoal finish. Overall, a great beer.

Cask. Pours an appealing black with tan head. Chocolate, coffee and liquorice in both flavour and aroma. Nice creamy mouthfeel. A nice beer but more roast malt would be an improvement.

On tap at the Magpie. Opaque black stout, nice cream - tan head. Smooth silky palate, has body. Semi dry and with mild carbonation. Lacto creamy dark malt, a tiny bit of raost. Trace of bubblegum ester. Minerals. Turns fairly bitter before the smooth finish. Mild malty bitter aftertaste. No real treacle. Decent.

Cask-conditioned at the JDW on Old Street, London 13/10/09. Dark brown in colour with a decent, tan head. Sweet, milk chocolate and syrup aroma. Flavour had more chocolate, roastiness and treacle, with some liquorice evident in the finish. Ok.
