detroitsteel (209), Greater London, England Aug 4, 2007 Weatherspoons on Kingsway, Holborn. Deep yellow, golden body, fine soapy head. Has a slightly dryish start and a malty finish. A lot of malty sweetness. Not bad - a bit soapy in the palate and somewhat lacking in hops, but does have a rich malty flavour.
berkshire_john (1004), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Jul 26, 2008 Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Gold with a dense cream head; malty aroma and flavour with some caramel sweetness; gently bitter finish. Uncomplicated. Mes_and_Sim (4052), London, Greater London, England Jul 20, 2008 A Sim rate (cask at JDW): Not much to the aroma. Tiny bit of hops. Tiny bit of malt. Simple as that. Very standard ale colour. Flavour is bitter with a hit of hops. Dry, malty and so, so standard. Palate is watery to the max. Boring, boring, boring. bobinlondon (215), Harrow, Greater London, England Jun 27, 2008 Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Copper with foamy white head. Nice hoppy aroma but taste was somewhat dissopointing. A bit watery with very little malt or hops flavours developing. The least impressive beer I’ve tried from this brewery. wildebeest (13), England May 19, 2008 Cask, Market Porter, 17/5/08, Poured a nice clean, clear copper colour with a thin white head. Toffee and a noticeable hoppy aroma, with a sweet malt and grassy hop taste. Not particularly exciting. Svesse (1591), Hässelby, Sweden May 4, 2008 (Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 26 April 2008) Dark amber colour with brief, off-white head. Malty nose with dried fruit, biscuity malt and hints of sulphur. Malty taste with notes of dried fruit (apricots), caramel and dusty hops in the finish. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, moderate bitterness. Decent enough, but leaning in the boring direction.
