Commercial Description:
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven't done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer's new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

Bottle from Joshua and Buck in Ithaca, NY--Poure da semi-cloudy amber body with a big off-white head. Lots of chewy caramel in the nose as well as gummy sticky hops. Still didn’t get as hoppy as I was hoping considering the name. Not too bad, though.

Clear ruby beer, with a moderate lace - thick caramel malt aroma, with strong notes of rye and caraway, and a strong hop presence - taste of rye bread, seeds, cracked grains - quite bready throughout, with strong hops coming through near the finish - rye bread is pretty much the best descriptor for this beer - it tastes pretty good, though.

Decent. Strong hoppy flavor without too much balance. All citrus hop flavor. No hint of alcohol. Medium bodied. Bitter taste and finish. Not especially drinkable. By far the best offering in the variety pack. Not the best IPA at all.

The label stopped me from buying it for a while, as I thought that there was no way something that looks like that can actually be good. The beer ended up being pretty solid.

Dark amber, semi-sweet floral hoppy malty aroma. Flavor is very strong of hops(duh) , bitterness is not too overwhelming but does give you a kick. Nicely balanced, recommended for Hop-Heads!

The label looks like it belongs on a video game. Full, hoppy aroma. Rich pine and grapefruit flavored hops (Cascade). Solid malt backing. A fine IPA. I tried it on tap too, and it was very good, full flavored and rich.

ACBF 2008. Pretty good actually, wasn’t expecting too much from it going in, but a solid IPA.
