Commercial Description:
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven't done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer's new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

[1013-20071229] 355mL. Hoppy woodsy resin aroma with a hint of grapefruit sweat. Hazy, dark brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Bitter woodsy grass hops and malt flavour. Medium body. Interesting.

Huge Cascade bouquet from a nice ruby body with a small white head. Huge grapefruit hop flavor with some carmel maltiness. Dry finish. I love this beer.

12oz bottle from swoopjones. Aroma of pure, brash, slightly catty Cascade hops. Pine resin, bitter orange rind, toffee and some fusel alcohol. Pours rich copper with bright orange highlights. Flavor is dry and bitter lacking the complexity I was hoping for after the rich aroma. Firm on the tongue finishing moderately dry.

Deep bronze pour with a one finger cap on top. While the nose is fresh and pleasant with orange and grapefruit, I don’t get the hop whallop that the name implies. A caramel and butterscotch back helps balance the fruity and citrusy body. This is real drinkable and very balanced - I just want more hops.

Pours a deep red rown clear color with a small amount of fizzy whitisih head. Aroma is very much piney hops. Flavor a nice balance of sweet caramel malts and subtle and delicate hop presence. Finish is more sweet than bitter as is common. Overall, an enjoyable beer.

A nice hoppy red bomb. Balanced flavor even with all those hops. Aroma of red, and maybe some other colors. Pine, citrus and lots of hops with some malts aside. Taste is flavorful similar to aroma and pretty good averall.

Great thick long lasting head the color is a deep amber. The grapefruit from the cascade hops overwelms the nose of this ale even though I know there are some great roasted malts in here. The hop flavor is very evident but not over the top like I would expect from the packaging nice mix of caramel and grapefruit in the mouth the mouth feel is what I would expect, although if it was a little less carbonated I would like it a little better. Im pouring from the bottle maybe draft would mellow the carbonation a bit. All in all a goo drinkable hopped american red ale.

Aroma is rustic earthy, and somewhat floral. pours reddish amber with good head and is transparent. flavor is mix of earthy hops with some carmel that in my opinion doesn’t meld together well. mediium palate. an okay beer.
