Commercial Description:
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven't done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer's new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

A nice hoppy red bomb. Balanced flavor even with all those hops. Aroma of red, and maybe some other colors. Pine, citrus and lots of hops with some malts aside. Taste is flavorful similar to aroma and pretty good averall.

Great thick long lasting head the color is a deep amber. The grapefruit from the cascade hops overwelms the nose of this ale even though I know there are some great roasted malts in here. The hop flavor is very evident but not over the top like I would expect from the packaging nice mix of caramel and grapefruit in the mouth the mouth feel is what I would expect, although if it was a little less carbonated I would like it a little better. Im pouring from the bottle maybe draft would mellow the carbonation a bit. All in all a goo drinkable hopped american red ale.

Aroma is rustic earthy, and somewhat floral. pours reddish amber with good head and is transparent. flavor is mix of earthy hops with some carmel that in my opinion doesn’t meld together well. mediium palate. an okay beer.

this was a very good beer. Had it at a beer fest in PA. Sold as a red ale but is hoppier than their IPA....strange. Still a good beer but not true to it’s label.

This was a nice beer from a NY brewery. Something to seek out if you are in the Southern Tier.

Very strong citrus hop aroma. Very slight amount of yeast. Cloudy light amber color with a medium white head. Big bitter beginning with a hint of bandaid in the finish.

This beer pours a dark amber color with really nice laceing around the glass and a decent head to it. There is a very floral aroma with hints of hops. As you drink it there is a initial bite of carmel and grapfruit hops. The more the beer warms up it brings out those floral flavors as well as some nice toffee and caramel on the sides of your mouth. I really like the bitterness on the tip of your tounge though.

Pours out a clear ruby/amber colour with a small of white head with decent retension and some lacing. The aroma was of northwestern high-alpha hops, caramel, a bit of cucumber, some herbal notes and grapefruit citrus. In the flavour the sweet malts were equally as powerful as the hops, if not moreso. The hops hit mostly in the finish with bitter smack. The hops also took on a vegatable quality along with the typical grapefruit citrus flavour of NW hops. The body was medium to full and the mouthfeel was a tad syrupy. Too much caramel malt in this one.
