COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven’t done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer’s new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

12oz. bottle - pours amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is a healthy and inviting hit of cascade hops against a stronge caramel malt background. Medium body. Flavour is the same, with apple and citrus notes blending well with the malt. Good piney notes in the middle. Extremely drinkable with a satisfyingly bitter/dry finish. Very good. Love those cascades.

acquired in a trade with jah noth, 12 oz. bottle poured into a tall tulip glass A: Hard pour produces a beautiful deep burnt orange & blood red sunset color, with 3-finger rocky, dirty white head. Lots of lacing left behind. S: Extremely pine hops dominate and overwhelm. Actually rather one-dimensional, the hops are all you smell. Slightly medicinal right up front. T/M: Thankfully more balanced than the aroma let on. A tiny bit of sweetness up front gives way rapidly to a tart, hoppy body, and an extremely bitter, lingering finish. A bit tangy, a but thin, but overall well made and an easy drinking beer. D: If you can handle the bitter hop blasts, this is a beer you could put a few back in a sitting.

copper hued decent french vanilla head. nice fresh hop aroma with pinecone and apple blossom. A bit thin but makes a great for a when youre having more than one, warm day libation. A little sour taste at first, not sweet or caramel that others detect. Great hop finish. A lot like Lake Placid Frostbite though thinner.

12 oz. bottle via Lubiere, shared with Phil, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Slightly hazy (I think…) brownish-copper, tan head. Aroma: Rye bread covered in molasses and orange marmalade, some greener hops and caramel later. Palate: Medium body, and carbonation, light astringency. Flav.: Caramel and chewy sweet malts then orange-grapefruit hops; fairly dry with decent bitterness; some malt and nuttiness on finish.

Bizarre label, balanced brew.

Pours a translucent ruby amber with a medium off white bubbly/creamy off white head that left some slight lacing. Aroma of fruity/citrus hops, lots of toasted and caramel malts Flavor of caramel, hop flavor with a mix of citrus and pine. On the thin side, dry but a nice balance of malts and bitterness. Not overly bitter and more malty that a majory of the american IPA’s.

Bottle thanks to El Jefe, best before May: Pours a transparent dark copper with a frothy, nicely-lacing off-white head. Aroma explodes with fresh grapefruity hops and sweet caramely malt. Body starts slightly sweet and toasty caramely malty with a nice balance of fresh hops and a crisp, flavorful bittersweet grapefruity finish. A nice IPA, although it could be a little thicker.

Bottle. Thanks to TomDecapolis. Deep orange body with a nice size head. Citrusy aroma - grassy. Flavor is sweetened with hops, citrus, and a mild bitterness to it. A little syrupy but decently balanced. Finishes decent.
