Commercial Description:
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven't done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer's new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

I originally wanted to try this beer based upon an ad in some beer magazine, marketing works. I like the label with a lizard breathing fire and red hops. Cool name too, I assume this is heavily hopped with cascades based upon the name. The color id a nice orange red. It has a very nice malty and hoppy smell like a good barleywine almost. The taste is chewy, some malts and finishes with a nice hop bitterness that is quite enjoyable. Thanks to Wasatch for the trade, this is enjoyable. dark amber pour is pretty with a slight offwhite head. aroma is hoppy, piney, as well as some bready malt. nice mouthfeel, like most ithaca brews, and some nice sweet caramel malt. A little less hoppy then I was expecting but still some nice piney flavor and some bitterness. Overall a solid ipa from Ithaca.

Very nice pour, thick fluffy head, great carbonation, red/brown liquid. Scent is citrusy hops over a very light malt background. Taste, similar to scent, but not as overpowering as a fresh nugget nectar. Cascade hops over a caramel background. Good, but nothing special. Palate is acceptable.

Tap at random bar in Ithaca. Great dark amber pour with a fast fading head. Doughy malt and pine hops on the nose. Same on the flavor but with a great malt character - pushing towards 8. Medium body and carbonation on the palate. Overall: solid darker IPA.

Thanks to fredandboboflo for this one! Transparent copper pour with a thick tan head and spotty lace. Caramel and cascade pine on the nose. Bittersweet flavor with hints of grapefruit, pine and caramel. Alcohol well masked. Flavor and aroma slightly subdued. I would love to try again when a little more fresh

deep reddish color with a nice beige head. Aroma is a nice mixture of sweet caramel malt and piney hops. This is extremely drinkable, excellent session beer. The flavor is a perfect balance of hop bitterness, flavor, and malt backing.

Pours a clear red color with a slightly off white head. Aroma of malts, hops, and a bit of caramel. Flavor of caramel, hops, and a touch of sweetness. Very nice beer!

Tap @ Ginger Man, Norwalk, CT. What first impressed me was the nice dark amber hue of this IPA. Wjhile the hoppy flavor was modest and lacking of undertones, the palate was very wide. I liked the combination of hop bitterness and sweetness. One of the better IPAs I’ve tried.
