KnN (715), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA May 3, 2009 On tap at the Dinosaur BBQ place in Rochester, NY. Poured a nice ruby/brown color with a thin white head. Aroma was some cascade hops, but not nearly as hoppy as iwas expeciting. A lot of malt aromas came through, some good biscuit and bread with some caramel undertones all mixed in with an apparent but not overwhelming hop character. Flavor was more of the same, but if anything the hops were tamed down even a little more. The beer was also just a touch on the watery side. Pretty tasty all around though. hunter112 (11), Nanuet, New York, USA Apr 26, 2009 Tasted at NY TAP festival. The best hop aroma of any ale I tasted today, this brew has a satisfying mouthfeel, and all the hops that a hophead like me could desire! I compare it to the great double red ales of my native Pacific Northwest! BgThang (118), Texas, USA Apr 26, 2009 Thanks hojaminbag for this in a trade.
Pours a 3 finger head.
Deep copper /reddish color.
nose- I got maltiness, hops, spiceyness.
mouthfeel - real nice red ale which has the hopiness character and some malty notes as well.
This is a solid red ale and I would seek this one out again.

Reviewed on: 07-05-2008 16:29:40 tgncc (798), Bellmore, New York, USA Apr 25, 2009 The aroma is hard to nail down, but has clear elements of bready malts, sweet caramel, and some piney, floral and earthy hops (not as many hops as I might have thought). The appearance is beautiful, a nice copper red/chestnut brown, sizeable white head. The flavor is bread, caramel, brown sugar, citrus. The finish is a lingering bitterness from citrus hops, like grapefruit. The mouthfeel is medium in thickness. Good representation of the style, enjoyable beer overall. Pastor (509), Maine, USA Apr 19, 2009 Thanks to Israel for the brew
Growler poured into my SA glass produced a big two finger off white head that went to a thick lace. Beautiful clear amber colored body on this brew with tons of bubbles coming from the bottom of the glass.
Aroma of fresh piney slightly floral Cascade hops filled my head. I guess this growler is good and fresh. The flavor is really well balanced between the hops and sweet caramel malts. There was a medium feel in my mouth and great carbonation for my tongue.
I really am starting to like these American Amber / Red Ale’s it went down really easy, very sessionable. I would drink this if it was on tap in front of me at a bar and easily recommend it to any one who asked
dolemike1 (1116), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 19, 2009 Reddish amber, nice white head. Sweet malt nose and floral hops. Caramel and a nice hoppy finish. Not bad. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 9, 2009 bottle, sampled 2/28/07.
Pours a dark reddish copper color, thick creamy white head that settles in and sticks around. Aroma shows more semi sweet bready malt notes than hops- only some light earthy, resinous notes hint at the hop character. Hops come through more in the flavor, but certainly not "monstrously hoppy". Some middling bitterness and light citrus and pine hop notes blend with a somewhat muted caramel and bread malt backbone. Palate is on the thin and oily side, with a light bitter finish. Certainly not a bad beer, but not one I’d go out of my way for. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 6, 2009 Bottle acquired via trade with nimbleprop...THANKS ANDREW!!! This one seems to be the East Coast equivalent of brews like Hop Head Red & Lucky 13. Seems more a hoppy amber than an IPA. Crimson pour with a thin khaki head. Bright citrus, lemongrass, and caramel in the nose. Flavor exhibits a faded hop profile that is dominated by sweet malt, honey, and biscuit. Medium mouthfeel. Not a bad beer.
