Commercial Description:
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven't done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer's new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

Btl opened by jcwattsrugger. An amber/copper pour with tan head and lace. Brown sugar and light hops on the nose. Semi sweet malt with medium hops and the brown sugar thing again. A tad fizzy but solid.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with a thin head. Very strong fruit and floral aroma along with some caramel notes from the red malt. The hops is also very present in the flavor along with some maltiness lingering in the background. A bit of a bite in the finish. While I am not a hophead, I did enjoy this beer.

Bottle thanks to thirdeye11. The look is golden to orange in color with an off white head. The smell is hops, sweet, some nuts, and pine. The taste is caramel, sweet, nuts, bitterness, and hops.

pretty big sample at the brewery. Amber in color with a medium sized off white head. Aroma is alot of cascade hops, hops are somewhat earthy and resinous along with citrus, a nice amount of caramel sweetness also in the nose. Taste is nice, with alot of grapefruit, earthy hops and a nice solid malt backbone with a touch of caramel sweetness throughout. Moderate bitterness in the taste, that becomes a bit stronger and lingers after the finish. Well crafted.

Clear amber, thin creamy off white head. Nose of soft grapefruit and florals with touches of earth and caramel. Nice cascade hop flavors without any sharp bitterness. Seems pretty well balanced with the citrus, roasted earth, and caramel blending nicely. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry, bitter finish. A good session IPA...

12 oz bottle thanks to FlacoAlto. Lots of carmel and hop aromas. Citrus and mango too. Flavors were toned down a bit like a finely aged IPA. Good Stuff.

Sample at Julio’s beer festival: amber body. Grapefruity and other fruit noted hops in aroma. Some caramel. Solid example but I think it could have been more assertive and/or bigger.
