Cold Front is our Belgian-style Amber Ale brewed in autumn to keep us inspired as the days grow shorter and the nights colder. It’s brewed with European Malts and hops and fermented with a legendary Belgian "Farmhouse" yeast. Savor its deep russet color, rich flavor accented by slight herbal hoppiness, and definite spicy yeast character. Bundle up!

On tap at Cloverleaf. Pours a deep amber brown color. Has an aroma of grapefruit and caramel. Has a bitter taste with a slight sweet malty taste. Nice dry finish. Nice carbonation level. Enjoyed this brew.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark red-brown with a huge beige head. The aroma was sugar, candied fruits - pear, cherry and apricot - and undertones of caramel and molasses. Wonderfully rich, sweet and fruity on the nose. The flavor dropped of a bit with notes of sugar, tart candied fruits (pear, apricot and raspberry) and hints of molasses and port wine. There was trace caramel and nut underneath. Long complex finish. Somewhat full bodied. Alcohol well hidden. Well done.

The dark malt flavor is delicious. This is a seasonal favorite that should not be missed.

12oz bottle purchased at brewery. Toffee color, tall tan head, mild yeasty nose. Yeast and malt on palate with a classic sour Belgian signature. A real winner for me.

Ithaca Cold Front... Amber Ale? This beer is brownish black with a smooth, dense, light brown head that has excellent retention and lacing. Dark fruit and clove are prominent in the spicy aroma. It’s medium bodied, foamy and lively with a chalky finish. It has a bold, phenolic flavor that’s nicely balanced with a touch of sweet, sour and bitter. It gets chocolaty and dusty at the finish. There are lots of cloves and prunes throughout. This is nice. What’s with the interwebz calling this a Saison? To me, this is more along the lines of Trois Pistoles.

Situation: Sunday after Christmas--what a good celebration... Glassware: Rare Vos slanted pint... Appearance: tremendously erupting thick brown head that serves a quarter of the glass... velvet black when held to the Christmas tree--a dark take on the saison indeed... Aroma: the spices and cloves pleasantly frame the hops; a full-bodied flavor is foretold in the aroma... Palate: vivacious, active medium-bodied ale; warming but not hot; alcohol strengthens as an undergirding form... Taste: light fruitiness dances above mellow maltiness and softened floral hops--yet this beer also has a fortified strength that makes ir a good winter match... Overall: a strange blend of a brew--heady and heavy at times, creamy and gulpable at others; fits the winter sampler, and if available around ehre, I might even seek it out on its own merits...

A sweet aroma with notes of caramel and malts in this dark roasted chestnut colored brew. It pours with a medium head which is gone all too quickly. The flavors were masked because it was served so cold at the Moosehead in Ithaca. They appear as sweet with the flavor of crisp malts. No alcohol at all on the palate that you may normally taste in a Belgian, which is amazing considering it has an ABV of 7.5!

Explodes out of bottle with a 5+ finger khaki head that fades quickly to a thin layer, leaving some lace. Hazy amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Belgian yeast nose and flavor is caramel and Belgian yeast, hops are subdued. $2.35 for a 12oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.

Good mahogony body with offwhite generous head, lots of carbonation, looks appetizing. Smell is strong and solid, yeasty banana and alot of sweet malts, maple syrup and so on, taste is really malty with a good earthy balance. So drinkable, booze peeks through appeallingly. Mouthfeel is thankfully full and crisp

From a growler from the brewery. Some good spicy malt that sits well on the back of the tongue. Has some nuttiness to the flavor. Not too much yeast flavor. Warms up your chest as advertised. Would buy again.
