bottle @ House of 1000 Beers / New Kensington PA --- Aroma of sour malt. Hazy light amber color, white head that settles to a full rim, dots of lace. Taste is sour malt and wheat that moves easily through mild carbonation to more sour in a lingering finish. Palate cleansing, nicely sour, a good Berliner.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a soft white head that dissipates to a ring. Grassy, lemony aromas. Lemon tartness up front with soft malt tones, and a bit of black pepper, grass and biscuit. Very citrusy. Lively, well carbonated mouthfeel. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle
As long as Ithaca continues to put out beers like this I will buy a few from time to time. At less than $1.99 for a single the risk to reward ratio seems to be favorable. Perhaps they’ll even put out a few more bottles or cans in the style of this sessionable sour soon.

Aroma / Appearance - The rosy golden body warms the table with a soft light. Icy carbonation sneaks upwards with a swift pace. Light wheat, lemons, and a mild tartness fit the style nicely without getting too extravagant.

Flavor / Palate - Sweet golden apples, lemons, and toasted wheat flow freely across the tongue to a crisp conclusion. The dry finish lacks the sparkling tartness of a great berliner weiss. Generally though it manages to retain the spirit of the style. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a local New York rate that isn’t just paint by numbers.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav’s place. Thanks Tom C. As Ithaca Cayuga Cruiser. Hazy khaki-gold. Slightly sour and ripe orange juice aroma, sour and tarty taste with hints of malt. Light body, mildly sour finish.

Scopey (12502) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 24, 2015
Tap at at Julian’s, Providence. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is fresh, pale bread, cracker, light barnyard and natural yoghurt. The taste is crisp, tart, quite lactic, spoiled yoghurt, some cheesecake, lime, zesty lemon and decent acidity with a short, dry finish. A bit more lactic than I would prefer, but still OK. Passable Berliner.

Draught at Bukowski’s Inman, 9/4/15.
Hazy medium-yellow golden body is well-carbonated and topped by a white head that fades to cover.
Lactic acid is quite straightforward in the nose as wheat dryness further emphasizes the crisp, bright, grainy aroma. Some breadiness, yogurt and just the faintest bit of caramel-honey with no alcohol or flaws.
Again, a very straightforward, respectable example with moderate sourness from the lactic acid and a chewy, wheat-like texture with appropriate carbonation and wateriness, good attenuation and crispness and lactic acid and bready, cereal grains lingering.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into glass. Hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is tart, light body, light soft carbonation, and pretty good small bubble lacing. Taste is tart.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. This was way too sour for my taste and I could barely get it down. A pure torture taste.
