Our take on this classic English style. This surprisingly light bodied beer has a smooth malty flavor that gives way to a slightly dry refreshing finish.

On draught a the brewery. Arrived a clear dark brown with a very thin tan head that lasted through the first two sips and left partial lace. Mild roasty aroma. The flavor is roast with some coffee in the aftertaste. Mild bitterness at the finish but it lingers on the palate after the swallow. Light-medium bodied. Solid.

Growler from brewery. Part of their ’five barrel’ series. Dark amber color small lasting head. Nice nutty aroma. Sweet and roasty. The taste is similar, nice sweet nut and roast with just a bit of dryness in the finish. Love to see this a lot more.

Tap. Pours a clear amber brown with a small fizzy off-white head. The nose is slightly sweet and toasty with a perfect light touch of graininess. Some light chocolate notes as well. The flavor is nicely dry with light roast coffee and come chocolate malt. Nicely husky and dry. Mouthfeel is light bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Short toasty and chocolaty finish. Perfect beer for a warm sunny day, and at 3.8% ABV, more flavor than you could ask for.

Growler at the campsite at BCTC. Can’t remember who brought this one, but thanks. Pours a clear brown with a thin white head. Soft roast, light chocolate and cocoa, toast. Nutty dry roast, chocolate and cocoa. Soft and nutty, more chocolate with some gentle roast into a dry earthy bitterness. Nice and easy drinking.
