Pours a red brown color. Ok head and week lacing. Aroma of toasty bread and caramel and citrus and pine. The roast and pine win in flavor. Mouthfeel moderate to full. Decent but not much better than average.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown pour with a tan head. Spicy and floral hop aroma with some roasted notes underneath. Flavor is bitter and floral, not so much with the citrus, and rather bitter. Finishes with a lingering bitter and floral aftertaste.

12 oz bottle. Some unique taste experiences here. Simultaneously bitter and sweet with a grassy nose. Dry on the tongue. The high kick in ABV is a plus.

A friend from work pick me up this 12 oz. bottle @ Ryan and Caseyís in Western, MA. Thin ring of white head that didnít last on a dark ruby pour Aroma is light pine, black top tar and a light medical note.

Flavor is pine right at the fore front. Thin body with chocolate and old espresso bean in the back end with weak charred resin finish. Low hop bitterness with pine creeping in. Watery texture hurts the overall feel of this brew.

Overall, this still drinks really well when you consider the high ABV. A touch of alcohol in the finish. Not bad in any way but could benefit from a slightly fuller body.

The aroma is first rate - piny, boreal, floral, and a tad yeasty. It has that slightly acrid hop/burnt grain taste that I associate with black IPAs, and makes me like them less than other IPAs. However, this is balanced with a few other tastes rolling around the palate, e.g. caramel and herbs. Good.

A surprisingly light aroma of fresh cut grass, some fruit and bread. The flavor is crisp with a nice bitterness over a bit of sweet malt. The finish is a bit sweet with some fruit coming through.

Where the hell are the hops? If itís advertised as a Black IPA, it damn well better deliver on the hop profile, which it didnít. The base beer is ok, but it plays off more like porter.

Pours a deep almost black with a bubbly off white head that left sticky lacing. Aroma of caramel, molasses and citrusy /floral hops. Flavor of caramel, orange hop notes, toffee and hints of molasses. Dry and abv well hidden.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown body under a frothy one finger light brown head that left a lot of heavy lacing. The nose is pretty intense and fresh with lots of floral and slightly resiny hops. A nice chocolate and lightly roasty malt base with a light hint of coffee. The flavor is really hoppy, but the bitterness is kept in check really well, which makes it very easy drinking and almost refreshing to drink, which is a bit weird for such a big beer. Nice chocolate and coffee notes from the malt, minimal sweetness, lingering lightly bitter finish. Light to medium bodied with soft gentle carbonation. Excellent beer, one of the best Iíve had in quite a while.

Bottle. Black color. Decent head. Aroma of floral/citrus hop, roasted malt. Aroma is a bit like 90 min. Taste is roasted malts, with bunches of hops. Medium bitterness at least, but enough malt to almost balance it. nice texture. Pretty good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
