COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with 100% New York State hops. India Pale Ale (IPA) is a style of beer renowned for its hop character. Some modern brewers have taken this tradition to the next level with the "Double IPA". What better way to parade the potential of NYS hop farming than with our new Double IPA. Hop farming once thrived in New York State. In the early 1900s, 95% of all hops used in the US were grown here in New York. However, soon the combination of crop disease & prohibition put an end to local hop growing. There is a new movement afoot to bring commercial hops back to NY. The Ithaca Beer Co. has teamed up with Pederson Farms (Seneca Castle, NY) to bring you this exceptional ale.

bottle at the deli givin to me by the brewer at an event. I told him I was a lover of huge beers and he had only brough on bottle of this with him. He cracked it and we shared it. A nice orange color with a little head. the aroma was pungent and citursy. The taste is glorious and hopy with a nice citrus backing. just the bit I wanted it to have loved every sip.

Sllightly hazy orange coloured body with a super thin white bubbly head and some floaters on top. Aroma of pure hops, sugar, oranges (not just the peel), malt, more hops and tons more sugar. Medium to Full-bodied; Super strong hoppiness up front with a bunch of bitterness leading into a strong malty taste with a bunch of twangy characteristics. Aftertaste has way more hop bitterness which makes this really nice - no sweetness or malt to speak of...just an alcoholic kick and a hoppy taste in the mouth. Overall, I liked this beer way more than most other IIPAs, because it didn’t kick as much, but it had TONS of hops. Definitely worth trying if you can get your hands on it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2006.

Another new bottle thanks to bmartin08 - Hazy orange pour, sweet musty nose. Flavor of complex hops but mostly peppery sweetness, almost like a barley wine. Decent weight on the tongue, with a touch of sticky. Odd flavor overall.

Not sure why I never rated this one. Fresh this definitely has more hops to it but man do they fade fast. An ager if you want it richer with not much hops. Still a great beer but not a DIPA aged. Fresh it has a ton of hops and malts to balance it out but even fresh it is a sweeter DIPA. Giving out my last of these made me realize how much I do like it.

Medium amber-brown, not too attractive really. Hoppy, fragrant aroma of grapefruit, pine, tons of hops, with decent caramel malt. Very strong alcohol flavor, with lots of hops again: pine, grapefruit, some cherry and dark fruit, but really driven by alcohol and hops. Way too much alcohol in the mouth. Nice otherwise, with really great hops.

12oz bottle courtesy of yobdoog. Pours a hazy amber with a one finger initial beige head that fades to a soup scum quickly. Nose is caramel malt, muted citrus and earthy notes. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, brown sugar and an earthy finish. Where are the hops? This brew comes off more like a barleywine. Not bad though. Thanks Trevor!

2008 Flour City Brew Fest. Some hop aroma to this beer. Light clear orange color with a lasting small white head. Initial sweet malt taste turning to bitter hops. Finishes with a good amount of citrus hop flavor.

Pours a two finger cream head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving no lace. Cloudy amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Grapefruit nose. Flavor is hoppy grapefruit with hints of sweetness. Some lingering bitterness. $2.29 for a 12oz bottle from Yankee Spirits South Attleboro, Ma.
