4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had this on tap at GABF. This is damn good. Pours black with a medium tan head and good lacing. Amazing aroma of coffee, roast, chocolate, and hints of dark fruit. Flavor is coffee and cream, vanilla, roasted malt, burnt notes, mild smoke, and berries. Finish is a bit dry yet palate is smooth. Just a bit watery for the style. Overall a great beer.

Opaque black color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, smoked malts, roast, chocolate, and ash. Taste of coffee, roasted malts, smoke, vanilla, tobacco, and dark chocolate, with a dry, roasty finish. Thanks Josh!

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
GABF2009 - this was supposed to be a coffee-infused stout - man, thatís one of my favorite styles, but this stuff was effing bad - ashy, smoky, tobacco, maple flavors - creamy mouthfeel, which I guess is the milk stout part - mostly ash and tobacco, though, like sucking on a liquefied cigar at times - they must have used some seriously crappy coffee in this - theyíre lucky I like smoky character in a beer, otherwise this rating would have been even lower.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2010 500th Stouties Rating. Draft. Talk about being against the grain, however this beer is dominated my my favorite adjunct to beer, coffee! Pours a black brune body with an off white head. Aroma is divine, overwhelming chilled just pulled out of the freezer and buried my face in the can coffee at its absolute freshest, reminds me of some serious breakfast stout on draft. Delicious fresh roast y coffee its all you taste, creamy coffee body and more coffee. Great.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
750 ml bottle purchased at the brewery. The pour looks exactly like coca cola. Very dark brown with clear reddish brown edges and a large fizzy light brown head that completely deflated by the time I was ready for my second sip. Heavily carbonated. The aroma is loaded with coffee with a few notes of tobacco detected as well. The flavor is again coffee and not much else. Thankfully, the coffee flavor is fresh and bright and not excessively bitter. Iím really not picking up any of the qualities that would make this a sweet stout. No lactose or milk sweetness and really not all that smooth. In fact, Iíd call this beer overcarbonated and the mouthfeel is prickly if anything, not smooth. Very late in the glass, as the carbonation eases, the beer is a bit smoother and less abrasive. This is probably not something Iíd look to revisit.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark black pour, lots of sediment with an off white head. Straight coffee grounds with tons of bitter chocolate aroma and tobacco as well, hints of some cinnamon spice. Flavor sours with the coffee roast, less bitter flavor then assumed, lots of milky creaminess and some sweet hazelnut. A fabulous coffee treat by my hometown!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown pour with tons of sediment and minimal head. Predominant trait of the nose is coffee, lots of cream and malt as well. Flavor isnít heavy by any means, but tons of coffee, cream, sugar, and a bit of hazelnut. Tastes like Starbucks, but better. Another solid offering from Ithaca Beer Co.
