Bottle shared by levi, pours a very dark brown with a thin tannish head, the aroma still has a decent amount of coffee on the nose with a little bit of chocolate, the flavor has more chocolate on the front end and the coffee isn’t as strong as the aroma, still solid though.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 madvike (2090) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 20, 2013
Bottle shared by levifunk...thanks Levi! - Pours black with no head. Nose is vanilla, light coffee grounds, and some milkiness. Taste is pretty good--this has held up surprisingly well. I’m guessing this was awesome fresh, as the coffee is muted and has a light nuttiness. Milky and sweet, with a mocha finish. Medium thin with nice carbonation.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Brigadier (2240) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAY 30, 2012
750 ml bottle
A fine example of a stout, this beer is a great way to celebrate an anniversary. While I wish I still had easy access to Ithaca’s line up there is enough of a backlog that I won’t miss their releases for a while. Eventually though I may have to figure out how to grab some of their more common bottles.
Aroma / Appearance - A deep chocolately brown body pours lazily into the snifter. Idle pockets of carbonation pop out from time to time. Coffee, dark chocolate, plums, and smoke tickle the senses. The total feel is cohesive and well considered.
Flavor / Palate - Plum, coffee, chocolate, and a milky texture flow easily across the palate. The taste hangs around for a while. Although it is starting to lose its edge it should be good to drink for a few months if well kept. Even so I would not want to hang on to any extra bottles longer than necessary.

750ml bottle. Pronounced intense coffee aroma. Black-brown with a thin, oily head. Super coffee forward. Tasty and nice, but a little one-dimensional because it is so coffee rich. Well executed nonetheless, an awesome sipper. Smooth and sugary. Nice.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jow (1381) - New York, USA - DEC 4, 2011
Found a random bottle at Nikki’s in RI. Tastes of burnt coffee, milk, chalk, hay, herbal, caramel and earth. Nose is kinda funky with small head. Slight alcohol flavors and a touch too watery. Just allright
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wedgie9 (1590) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 18, 2011
Tasted on 8/18/11 from 750mL bottle obtained in a trade, batch E!016. Pours a nearly black, dark brown, with an average tan head that slowly recedes to very thin, spotty lace. The nose is full of freshly roasted coffee, along with a ton of roasty malt and just a bit of underlying vanilla. The flavor is lightly sweet with a hint of molasses, dominated by freshly roasted coffee, with just a hint of bitterness, and vanilla. The body is full and creamy with light, but stinging, carbonation, and a long roasted coffee with a hint of vanilla finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 alexsdad06 (3044) - Ohio, USA - JUL 24, 2011
750 ml bottle. Pours dark brown in color with a small fleeting beige head. The aroma is slightly burnt black coffee, roasted malts and dusty dry chocolate. The flavor is thin black coffee, some burnt roasted malts and chalky chocolate powder. Very thin body which doesn’t go well the the black coffee flavor. If this had more body to support the flavors, I would probably enjoy it more.

Pours deep brown into a snifter. Cola head crackles and recedes to nothing. Espresso aromas. Dry with chocolate milk and espresso front to back.
