COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our anniversary ale, THIRTEEN is carefully brewed with raw and malted wheat and flaked oats, assertively hopped with Citra and Sorachi Ace, spiked with an addition of orange and lemon peel and vigorously fermented with an American Ale yeast. Enjoy the incandescent appearance, immense citrus aromas and flavors, soft and fluffy mouthfeel and bitter zing.

From a bottle poured a straw color with a good amount of head. Light malty citrus flavor with a lingering finish.

Draft from Whole Foods, recommended by Adrian. Dark gold pour. Rich aroma with a lot of what I thought was West Coast hops, but appears to be Citra and Sorachi Ace. I am still not enough of an expert to consistently identify hop varieties. Lots of rich, dry hops in the flavor - also peppers, mustard, some herbs, and orange peel/curacao. It gets more flavorful and aromatic as it warms, and I began to smell lemon and flowers. A first rate hop blast - an Imperial IPA imo - yet not too rough. Excelsior 13 was enjoyable every sip of the way, and there was no hint of nasty funk, something I have experienced with similar brews. Really good brew.

750mL foil-wrapped bottle, Batch # E!033. Pours bright, hazy orange, lively, with a fluffy 2-finger off-white head. Aromas of rich, sweet tropical guava and papaya, funky fruit, and citrus peel. The flavor is sweet fir (Christmas tree), sap, light flowers, chalk, and a bitter citrus rind finish with orangepeel and estery banana. Slightly sugary. Medium carbonation and body, smooth, and nearly creamy. Very tasty. Bright, citrusy aroma and flavor, and very drinkable. [633]

Bottle shared by Nickls. Pours hazy orange with an average, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, grainy, hay, straw, meal, cereal), heavy hops (floral, grassy, citrus), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of pineapple, pepper, ginger, and coconut lime. Flavor is heavy malt (bread, cookie, grainy, hay, straw, meal, cereal), heavy hops (floral, grassy, citrus), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of pineapple, pepper, ginger, and coconut lime. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation, low creaminess with a dry and biting finish.

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Fruity, juicy, piney hop aroma with some sweet malts. The flavor has citric, piney, and floral hops, with some sweet malty balance, and a nice bitter finish. Very nice.

Draft very fresh. Pours a hazy amber body with a copper white head. Grassy and herbal tones that are even still dominated by pure fruit juice notes. Pineapples, with citrus, and crazy juicy blends. Light sugar tones of unrefined sugars and some sticky grass and spruce notes. Nice beer.

Had on tap at the brewery and was very impressed, however the bottle is anything but. Bottle from batch E!033 gushed slightly when opened and from the first pour was filled with chunky yeast sediment. The bottle was stored properly weeks prior to opening. The big hop flavor and aroma were still there but masked by the murky yeasty body. Disappointed.
