4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jblauvs (1336) - Amesbury, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 4, 2011
Golden amber pour, with a fluffy white head. aroma is juicy hops, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, GOD I LOVE CITRA HOPS. And Ithaca knows how to do it. Flavor is bright, fresh, more zest, creamy mouthfeel, lovely orange peel, pineapple juice, some tight, sweet maltiness as well, with only a hint of alcohol. Really, really delightful.

On tap at Ithaca Ale House, 1/13/11. Cloudy orange in appearance, looks like carrot juice. Aroma is citrus fruits, mainly oranges and lemons, perhaps pineapple. Taste offers medium sweetness and slight citrusy sour notes. Palate is surprisingly thick and creamy with a lasting bitter finish. The 8.9% ABV is well hidden; I suppose the bombardment of citrus didn’t hurt in that regard. I didn’t really know what to expect from this one based on the description, but I liked it to the point where when it came time for Beer #2, I couldn’t pass up the chance to have another.
