COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our anniversary ale, THIRTEEN is carefully brewed with raw and malted wheat and flaked oats, assertively hopped with Citra and Sorachi Ace, spiked with an addition of orange and lemon peel and vigorously fermented with an American Ale yeast. Enjoy the incandescent appearance, immense citrus aromas and flavors, soft and fluffy mouthfeel and bitter zing.

Pours straw golden with big fizzy white head. Aroma is citrus zest, perfumey coconut?, wheat, and herbs. Taste is heavy handed citrus zest with an astringent yeast bitterness, like aspirin. Finishes clean and refreshing which saves the beer for me. A bit too assertive for what it is.

Brewed 2010, aroma of cheap dogfish head malts, taste is malts and very bitter. High acidic profile, just aggressive as hell.

Hazy orange coloured body with a nice, dense thick off-white head. Aroma of bright and pungent hops, alcohol, yeast, sour grapes and a touch of malt - very nice and potent. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive hops up front with a lot of sugars, some malt, some light spices and a touch of pungent yeast flavours. Aftertaste is quite complex at all with a full-bodied alcohol flavour at first, then some pungent hops, a good deal of malt and a nice sweetness to finish it off. Overall, a good and inspiring beer that showcases hops, but has a great other realm of complexity and flavour than most other beers like this actually have. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York, New York (Bowery) on 25-November-2011 for US$11.99 sampled at home in Washington on 29-April-2012. Batch E!016, same as pictured here on RateBeer.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of quite intense bitter hops with some floral notes and light pickles notes from the Citra. Taste is a unique mix between some wheat malt with intense notes of bitter hops with light citrus and pickles flavours with some residual sugar also noticeable. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Interesting mix thought dry hops presence is a bit too intense and doesn’t leave much place for the wheat malt base to come through.

750ml Bottle shared by hu5om, thanks Ryan! Hazy golden color with a white head. Sweet malt and yeast flavor that fades slightly in the finish.

Bottle shared by hu5om...thanks Ryan! - Pours hazy yellow with a thin white head. Nose is light herbal hopping, with a sweet honey note and a touch of citrus. A bit of sharpness. Taste is a little more gentle. The hopping is floral and herbal, with a touch of spicing and a light fluffy body. Nice stuff, but didn’t knock my socks off.

Bottle [750ml] shared with HogTownHarry, JoeMcPhee, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Feb. 11. Pours a murky orange with an average size semi-lasting frothy off-white head. Nice aroma with lots of hops, resiny and very citrusy, along with pale malt. Hoppy flavour, along with wheat, fruit and light alcohol. Average bodied. Very good.

[4296-20120211] 750mL bottle. Pungent grainy butter orange peel leaf aroma. Hazy, orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Boozy woody orange flavour has a very strong citrus base. Full body. Tasty but hugely boozy. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2012 2012-02-11. Hazy golden body, small frothy white head. 3+ Modest aroma, light alcohol, sweet almost honey like pale malt. Sort of grainy, cereally touch, floral accents. 6+ Flavour is mild, pale wheaty malt and cereals, modest bitterness, hints of melon and apricot, touch of vanilla like notes that seem like I might be imagining them. Smooth average to light bodied palate. 3+ Bit quirky, enjoyable and quaffable. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo
