4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Outstanding citrus aromas. Pours a hazy yellow with long lasting head. Draught and bottle are both good ways to get this one.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A: Orangish Hue, Passes Almost No Light, Creamy White Head, Great Lacing
S: Orange, CitraHops, Wheat
T: Grapefruit, Orange, Bready
M: Great Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Sweet, Bitter
Overall, this is mis represented as a wheat wine as it is more like a citra hopped DIPA. I have had this previously in bottle and thought draft was better (but still great in bottle). Recommended.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have a strong juicy citrus burst, floral notes, wheat grass, lightly toasted malts. The citrus in the flavor is less juicy and more zest. Interesting interpretation of a hoppy wheat.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
8/31/2011: Excelsior Thirteen Anniversary Ale (Malt Beverage Brewed with Citrus Peel Double Hoppy Wheat Ale; made with Citra and Sorachi Ace hops)... Aroma: Yummy aroma; cornucopia of juicy citrus; slightly floral. Appearance: Opaque orange color; foamy beige or slightly ivory-colored head. Flavor: Mild maltiness covered by a good level of citrusy (light in the mouth, not the thick juicy fruitiness sometimes found in hoppy beers) bitterness with a tinge of pine; wheat malt is nice because it adds body without adding much sweetness or heft to the feel; a bit of alcohol coming through in the backend. Palate: Medium to medium-full body; well carbonated; nice mouthfeel. Overall: I donít mind hoppy wheat ales, but the wheatiness is somewhat lost and gets buried by the typically aggressive hops.
1 Pint, 9.4 FL OZ bottle shared by alexsdad06. Thanks Brad! Rating #134 for this beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 mL bottle. Pale, not much head. Smells pretty much like an ASA. But the lemon peel adds a really cool touch to the flavour, which differentiates this one from the competition. Excellent hop flavour and bitterness.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750mL bottle, just capped, Batch E!030, letís see how this oneís held up over the years. Nose of wheat and lemon meringue, even some pie crust. Yeasty despite my careful pour, and potent yeast in the nose, and developing some nice jammy fruit. Sorachi for sure and some strong alcohol just breaking through the surface of the bouquet. Fizzy-soapy beige head on a cloudy golden body. Body very sharply crisp with strong, sharp bitterness and some resin; a little oily hop sweetness but otherwise very dry and even a little harsh. Strong orange and lemon peel with scratchy coriander and black pepper, jammy fruit pushed off the stage to allow for some cool saison flavors. Alcoholís actually hidden to dangerous effect but the aggressive hopping puts me off somewhat.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted grain for the malt, moderate grapefruit and orange for the hops, lightly dough for the yeast, with hints of dried apricot and and dates. Head is small, fizzy, off-white with nice crusty lacing and is mostly lasting. color is hazy orange/amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic, and lightly to moderately bitter. palate is medium, oily with a lively carbonation. Perfectly balanced flavors and aromas for an American Strong Ale with lots of dried fruit, though it does have a nice DIPA aspect to it.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Gorgeous honey colored pour with nice white head and plenty of residual cling. Nose is lemon, orange, honey, and grainy malts. Taste is a citrus bomb with plenty of peel and zest all up front. Fairly large back end bitterness that really is keeping this from being special for me. Nice mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 11/13/2012, batch E!036, from Good Beer NYC. Pours cloudy, light burnt orange with small head, fades to nice hazy slick. Aroma is definite sorachi ace and orange citrus, lemon peel, pear and tropical fruits, nice caramel backbone, light wheat. Taste follows suit: bright sorachi ace most prominent, with juicy orange, cantaloupe, grapefruit character. Medium palate, fairly smooth and highly drinkable. Really like the sorachi profile. It was great to find this again, not as aggressive as when fresh but still quite nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
February 11, 2012 - with JoeMcPhee, blankboy, jercraigs & mabel. 750ml bottle c/o j&m. Bottle E!034. Hazy orange, tiny black floaties, smallish frothy/creamy off-white head. Aroma is tart apricot, alcohol - simple, really appealing. Taste follows, a little lactic, lots of floral pungency and alcohol. Thick body, mild carbonation and acidity, finishes dry with a touch of vanilla, oddly.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours cloudy copper with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of citrusy hops, lots of malts with the wheat and oats being present, and some fruits too. Flavor strong on everything. Smooth texture. A good beer.
