COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ground Break is our new spring seasonalÖ itís an Americanized (hoppy) Saison. Itís brewed with generous amounts of Amarillo, Crystal and Glacier hops (none added during the boil by the way- only first wort, whirlpool and dry-hop additions) and flaked rye. Itís fermented with a blend of Dupont and Chico yeasts. Very dry, ample yeast character, and hoppy. Weíve brewed a couple of batches so far, and expect it to start showing up on draft first, then in 6-packs and our variety 12-pack in February. Itíll last until May or so when we start rolling out this yearís version of Partly Sunny, our summer Wit-style beer! This will show up everywhere that our seasonal brews and variety packs are found: NY, PA, CT, MA, RI, NJ and OH.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label has a "Best Before" date but no ABV% Appearance: This beer pours clear and golden until the last few ounces with all the yeast sediment. The yeast swirls around and slowly blends in give the body a hazy appearance. The slow carful pour produces a huge billowy meringue like head that fills half the glass. It holes on forever and keep a good cap of foam on till the last sip. On the sides of the glass it leaves big splotches of foam lacing. Smell: There are strong hop presence along with all the typical estery and funky/medicinal Belgian yeast and malt notes. There are fruity notes from the malt and yeast as well as the hops. Hops add some citrus and spicy floral notes and the yeast/malt brings a mix of tropical fruit and mild white pepper like dry spice. Taste/Palate: There is a lot of complexity packed into this firmly medium bodied beer. There is a flash of candy and bready sweetness with estery yeast as well as dry funk and mellow phenolic spice. The hops which are more influential here then in a traditional Belgian Ale bring solid hop bitterness from the start to the finish and add there own floral and citrusy spice notes. It finishes with dry spice and firm dry hop bitterness. The palate is lively and well carbonated. Notes: This may note be true to the Belgian style with its assertive American esque hop profile but it works!!!

This is a great beer. Its now my favorite saison, although itís borderline an IPA. The mouth feel is crisp and refreshing. It has a great sessionable flavor, fresh and hoppy but balanced. Great summertime beer.

A vivid 12oz brew into a imperial glass. Aroma withstanding is excellent. Fresh citrus on a sunny day with the wind blowing at an ease. Medium orange with yellow and tan hues. This is such an excellent drinker. Eash wiff to the nose is the same: pure citurs, hops, golden cropped grass and delicate barrelled hay. Easy on the pallate, this is a brew to enjoy, share, and dedicate future endeavors to.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best by April(yeast was heavily caked on the bottom, this could be a year or more old). Pours hazy golden orange color with a very nice 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big lemon, apricot, pear, herbal, floral, coriander, pepper, bread, earth, light funkiness, and yeast spiciness. Very nice and well balanced aromas with good strength and complexity. Taste of big orange, lemon, pepper, pear, lime, coriander, bread, earth, herbal, floral, grass, clove, light funk, and yeast spiciness. Very slight tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruit, citrus, pepper, clove, earth, herbal, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance of sweetness and spiciness; with great flavor complexity. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a slightly syrupy and extremely crisp mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small amount of warming noticed after the finish. Extremely smooth and easy to drink. Overall this is an outstanding saison. Great balance and flavor complexity. Nice touch of funk rounds it out as well.

"Cloudy yellow-orange body with a big rocky head and thick lacing. Smells of lemons, flowers and spicy hops with a nice yeast quality. Crisp, bitter and a bit funky. Peppery, grassy hops with lots of lemon driven citrus. Fruity with mildly tart yeast, biscuits and grass. Phenomenal Saison from an American brewery."

Pours a deep golden with a white foam head from carbonation. Smells of spices, lemon, and orange. Taste like those three elements as well. Itís like allagash white bit with more of a beer taste. It has some hops, the high carbonation kind of takes away from the taste. Finishes with the spices, Iím not the hugest fan of the style (saison) and I like this.

12 oz draft at Cafe Notte in Pittsburgh. Sweet, creamy and smooth. Lots of fizz on the pour. A nice tolerance for hops and just the right amount of sugar. Generally above the mark for the IPA style.

Golden color with slight head. Vegetal with slight asparugus aroma. Refreshing lemony citrus, floral and yeasty flavors; trace of sweet fruits. Lingering aftertaste.
