COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The rich mahogany hue of the Nut Brown is the first thing you will notice about this complex, malty brew. A delicate blend of chocolate malt, caramel malt, and four other malts brings to this beer a chocolatey sweetness, and hints of coffee. The malt character is subtly balanced with Northdown and Fuggles hops.

Very ’bock-like’ flavor to this nut brown ale. Seems America can’t compare to traditional English Nut Brown Ales, such as Newcastle and Samuel Smith’s. Had a hard time finishing this one.

This brown ale was very malty. The taste was smokey, dark and thick. Not too smooth but it was drinkable, I guess.

On tap at the Roger Smith Hotel, NY. Agreed, this smells, looks, and tastes a bit like a porter. Color is semi-opaque dark brown, rusty color at edges. Medium thick foamy darkish tan head. Aroma is light chocolate roasted malt, a little nutty. Flavor like the aroma, some roasted caramel and chocolate malts, a little nutty, then goes mildly dry and bitter. Also yes to some maple sugar in the flavor.

On tap. Nice brown hue with a tan head that seemed to have good retention. Aroma was of caramel and nutty notes. Flavor had great balance between sweet malts and a roasted quality. Easy to drink.

Easy drinking brown. Not too bitter. Nice level of roast and nuts. Nice body and sweetness for a low abv beer.

Bottle. Clear, dark brownish, tan head. Nice earthy, nutty, chocolatey aromo. Fairly sweet, potent roasted nut and chocolate flavor that doesnt last. Clean finish.
