Commercial Description:
A Robust American Ale brewed with four different rye malts, fresh centennial and crystal hops and our proprietary ale yeast. It is partly fermented in Tennessee rye whiskey barrels, then carefully blended. Enjoy the gorgeous ruby color, strong aromas of vanilla and black cherry, earthy flavors of nuts and oak and the warm, spicy finish.

750ml Bottle: Complex aroma of black cherry, bourbon, oak, Brett, rye, whiskey, slight dark ripe fruit, and light vanilla. Poured very deep amber/brown in color with a large, foamy, loose, creamy, tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling to very sparkling. Full of tiny, small, and large particles throughout. Good to very good lacing. Lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of oak, black cherry, bourbon, wood, light vanilla, slight tobacco, rye, whiskey, slight chocolate, and slight alcohol. Medium to full body. Tingly, creamy, dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Wood, oak, black cherry and whiskey finish is dry. Tons of oak and whiskey throughout. 9%ABV is essentially totally hidden.

2008 Bottle - Thanks phhd! - Pours a deep transparent amber with a medium beige head...aroma is very inviting, barrel, caramel, grain and brown sugar...flavour is similar, terrific rye presence, vanilla oak, dried fruit...heat on the end, but very smooth in the mouth and quite enjoyable...

07 bottle courtesy SoLan, thanks Alan! Pours a dark caramel color with a tan head. Spicy rye, toffee and vanilla aroma. Taste is BW style, toffee, vanilla, chocolate and spiciness of the rye. I thought this was really interesting.

thanks to solan for sharing! Molasses and caramel malts on the nose, has a bit of age on it from the aroma, sherry-like aromas. Pours a dark caramel brown with no head. Smooth and malty with hints of chocolate and vanilla, very rich malt flavors. Not much hoppiness at all. Thick and creamy mouthfeel though. Nice.

Courtesy a trader sometime ago. June 07, btl #816. Dark amber/ruby, off white carbonation. Aged English barley wine with detectable rye and barrel notes, cocoa on the finish. Body is a bit thin from the age, still nice though.

Thanks be to SoLan. Smell is sweet and sugary. Flavor is malty with a tartness. Body is thinner than I would expect.
