COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straw-colored and crystal-clear, this Pilsner brew is our first genuine lager beer. We used a traditional German lager yeast strain, and the classic Saaz, Hallertau and Hersbrucker hop varieties. Original gravity of 12.5 plato, followed by 8 weeks of fermentation and conditioning (compared to 2 weeks for our ales), result in a 5.5% abv. and a remarkably crisp, clean flavor.

Not bad for a pilsner. Pours a cloudy yellow color with no head. Aroma of hops and malts. Good carbonation. Smooth and mild for a pilsner.

Tap at Barcade: Light golden pour with a fading white head. Dry crackery aroma with some zesty saaz notes. Nice crisp yet creamy carbonation. The flavor is also dry and with a crackery pils base- very clean with a peppery grassy noble bitterness- seems like tettnang. A very nice pils.

Pours light and clear with white head. Light hoppy aroma with a taste that is much the same. Very crisp. I like this beer.

Crystal clear straw color with an extensive stream of upwardly mobile bubbles. Impressive three-finger, snow powdery white head that recedes in a rocky fashion. Fresh, malty aroma. Neutral hop. (weakest part of the tasting). Far more bitter than the aroma would suggest--more than a typical pils. Very dry with a solid body for the style. Leaves a long-lasting bitter, bitter hop aftertaste (that goes on forever). Overall, this is an interesting, albeit slightly off, pilsener. I’d seek it out to try it in a flight of other pils.

Bottle we sneaked into quinns thanks to Ang. Alround rating: Tasty pale malts, citrus and herbal hop, its actually quite a strange beer, like it seems like a pilsner, but from what its made with i dont really think it is. But its stilly quite tasty stuff.

Hmmm. 12oz bottle from a seemingly ping ponging label in NY. Its at the store one month and then vanishes for another. Pours a moderate gold with a thinner off white head. Sparse soapy lacing. Nose of vanilla and cereals and a fair ammount of hops. Body is Light/Medium and a bit maltier than I had expected. I hope this one travels one well. A nice crisp hop tang for a finish.

In short: A bland entry level pilsner with no character
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed very fresh, purchased directly at the brewery and drank the same day.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a small white head
In long: Basic flavourless cereals, a little on the oily side. A little watery honey. A touch of floral hops and a light citrus presence. Total lack of character. I cannot blame it on a tired old bottle since I purchase it directly at the brewery. Ithaca make some solid beers but this is basically a “blonde” beer for the mass market. I wish Ithaca good luck with this beer, and after drinking it I can tell you they’ll need it.

I suspect that this one was a touch light struck. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a large white head. The aroma was strong spicy and floral hosp with a touch of skunk underneath. The flavor was crisp bitter floral hops with a sour, tangy and almost skunky malt base. The finish was bitter and sour. Disappointing.
