yesyouam (366), Fairport, New York, USA Jun 26, 2008 Ithaca Pils is a slightly hazy light golden lager. It is very sparkling with a small, fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, grassy and slightly fruity. It is medium light bodied with a clean, crisp finish. It is well balanced with decent bitterness. It tastes like Saaz. The aftertaste is leafy. It’s a simple and refreshing lager.
Glouglouburp (1999), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2008 In short: A bland entry level pilsner with no character
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed very fresh, purchased directly at the brewery and drank the same day.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a small white head
In long: Basic flavourless cereals, a little on the oily side. A little watery honey. A touch of floral hops and a light citrus presence. Total lack of character. I cannot blame it on a tired old bottle since I purchase it directly at the brewery. Ithaca make some solid beers but this is basically a “blonde” beer for the mass market. I wish Ithaca good luck with this beer, and after drinking it I can tell you they’ll need it. FROTHINGSLOSH (1509), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 21, 2008 I suspect that this one was a touch light struck. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a large white head. The aroma was strong spicy and floral hosp with a touch of skunk underneath. The flavor was crisp bitter floral hops with a sour, tangy and almost skunky malt base. The finish was bitter and sour. Disappointing. tagz (309), USA Aug 23, 2008 bottle. a decent session brew, light with a mild hop, but too much caramel flavor for the syle. leaves it less than crisp. i’d say this one’s a miss. Dacrza (164), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Aug 19, 2008 Thick fluffy white head sits on a solid, healthy bronze body in a PSU pilsner glass (brother Jer’s pour produces three times more foam!)... dry, almost undetectable scents of malts or hops... a full-bodied pilsner to the palate--almost an altbier in body and mouthfeel, alternately creamy and edgy... crisp, champagne-like dryness... the label seems more interested in what hops are used, but the malts are heady.... not your average pilsner , and that is said with some complimentary sentiment: heavier, tighter, more present than its body might suggest--consistent with a hint of fruitiness at the finish... MrChopin (200), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2008 Dark gold with decent white head, nice lacing. Nose is rather weak but has some hop citrus, doughy malts, floral rain water. Flavor is stronger with more sweetness and citrus. Nice, full body that’s not as crisp as it is fizzy. Decent pilsner.
