3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at Qbrick. Mild roast malt nose with a touch of chocolate. Amber-red color, with a thick strangely clumpy head. Fruity initial, with raisins and plums / yeast in mid, with some sneaky hops in the background / fairly tasty finish, but it fades out too quickly. Medium heavy body. Okay.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Medium offwhite lasting head. Hazy opaque deep dark brown body. Sickly fruity banana aroma with roasty malty notes. Dry strawberry taste with malty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish strawberry and earth aftertaste with roasty notes. Not really very nice. Too much strawberry, as if they’ve lost control of the yeast. (0.35l draft at brewpub.)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the hand pump during Real Ale Month at Beer Cafe Barley in Nishinomiya.
Nice amber color. Hoppy aroma with medium caramel malts, and a bit of chocolate and bubble gum. Flavor profile similar. Dry chocolate / caramel finish. Decent balance overall, nice drinking, but not very interesting and gets a bit boring through the pint.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
@ GJBF 2007. Pours reddish copper. Light aroma, slightly roasted, frutiy, and mild hops. Flavor is nice, though weak. Citrus hops, caramel malts, toasted, and light fruits. It isn’t bad at all, but it needs more flavor and definitly more aroma. Iwate Kura is usually better than this.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
[cask at Popeye]
Fruity apricot aroma with subtle caramel malt notes, though a bit weak. Sherried wiskey appearance with no top. Extremely fruity flavour of peach and apricot with a little buttery sweet hazlenut notes. Very low bitterness with coffee and vanilla-y roast barley character with some nuttiness. Very low carbonation, medium to full body, quite sweet finish.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Mahogany red color with almost no nose. Malty body with caramel and raspberries, but very unbalanced. Dry boring finish. Pretty lame from a brewery that does decent stuff.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
A dark amber/orange color with a thick, beige head. A nice malty scent, slight floral hoppiness. A nice but simple flavor of malts. Flavors improve and show a bit of complexity as this warms while swooshing around in your mouth. A good session brew and would do well paired with Tempura or Yakisoba. Very quaffable but not spectacular.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
The commercial description for this beer is pretty right on. It is a beer that is generously hopped, but still manages to maintain a creamy, sweet balance. Not as overbearing as many IPA’s but also not as dynamic. Still, a good beer altogether. Coats a pint glass, as well as a palate, nicely.
