Big thanks to IslandHaole for this one. Pours dark black with 2-finger tan head and great lace. Aroma of roasty malt, chocoff, licorice, and some port. Tastes very malty, with a nice chocoff element, backed up with licorice and a slight soy sauce. Notable complexity and a dense, smooth, complex palate. As it warmed, I noticed some caramel. Very good. A real winner from the land of the rising sun. Get me a Geisha girl and I’ll be all set!

Pitch black color. Light brown head. Toffee, caramel, nuts hide under the big dark chocolate nose. Nutty sweet, malty mouth that comes across like pouring just the right amount of frangelico into cold coffee. Sweet malty finish. Nice. First stout I would say that is specifically appropriate for Christmas.

Nearly black with red hints. Creamy bubbly beige head. Powerfull aroma of roasted coffebeans, dark chocolate and vanilla. Strong but smooth roasted flavour of coffee, toffee and salt. Long finish of roasted malts. Quite powerfull. Good stout!

Almost black. Aroma is rich and fruity - chocolate covered cherries, new suede jackets and a Luang Prabang-style coffee. Flavour is sweet, mocha-like, with only a light fruitiness. Heavy body, very smooth. Fairly simple, but tasty stuff.

330 mL bottle: black body with a full and very generous, large bubbled dark pinkish-tan froth. Barky, dusty chocolate aroma with roasted cherry skins and light alcohol. Smooth, lactic palate with loads of roastiness and black currants and sweet milk chocolate truffles. A very nice and slightly complex flavour, well done! Thanks a bunch IslandHaole!

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2005 A very dark browm, near black, opaque with a light brown head. Roasted malt and cocoa with a touch of licorice in the nose. Sweet malts, mild roastiness with a floral hoppiness. Alcohol is slightly noticeable in the follow. An interesting stout, hard to classify. I will definately pick up a few more bottles of this on my next trip!

Sweet chocolate and some roastyness with an odd vegital quality, very porterish in the nose. Drys out nicely in the mouth with some green hop action, coffee roastyness and cool deep cocoa. Finishes peculiarly bitter but in a balanced way, with grass and dark chocolate. Pleasantly weird.

Bottle, cgarvieuk coolbeans party. Dark brown, thin beige head. Nose is full of bitter chocolate, some malt, some espresso. Mouth is chocolate, slightly lactic coating, smoky bacon, lingering. Quite good really.
