Ungstrup (11353), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 5, 2003 A deep red beer with a light brown head - not black enough for a porter. The aroma is sweet and fruity - a pretty complex aroma. The flavor is very fruity - like a Belgian ale. Which in turn makes it far from a porter. It is slightly flat but with a fine palate. A different experience than all other oatmeal porters or stouts I've had. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 14, 2002 Black with nice head. Dry and roasty with a nice citrusy hop aroma, and well balanced bitterness. Definitely one of Sweden’s better beers.
The name has changed from Jämtlands Porter to Jämtlands Oatmeal Porter this autumn, as a result of the increased use of oats. The recipe change is however an always ongoing process, and the brewery carefull points out that it is not a new beer.
Papsoe (10267), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 27, 2005 Updated: Jun 29, 2005(Bottle 50 cl) Black, very black indeed, with a thick, creamy almost cream-like head. Very dry and roasted with typical coffee-like flavours. Surprisingly full-bodied for the rather low ABV. 061003 Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 1, 2000 Very rich aroma of coffee and dark malts, and a well-balanced, toasty palate. Amongst the top five porters in the world (which would put it in the top three in Scandinvia - wow). joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 14, 2005 Updated: Feb 28, 2006Bottled.
Brown coloured with a beige head.
Roasted aroma with notes of chocolate.
Roasted flavour with notes of chocolate and liquorice.
Roasted and hoppy finish.
Not very far from the other Jämtland-beers I’ve had.
