bark (255), Linköping, Sweden Mar 14, 2005 Bottle. The colour is gold; the foam is off white, two fingers thick, half compact and firm.
The smell is creamy with lots of aroma hops and butter; there are also some citric flavours.
The mouth feel is very refreshing with lots of medium sized bubbles.
The taste is quite delicate for a beer from Jämtlands. The malt is fresh and a bit sour. The flavour develops into a solid citric bitterness that is balanced by the full-bodied malt with a distinct note of butter. The aftertaste got a fresh note of sour apples, sweet fruits and creamy butter. It is rather long and balanced.
A lighter beer than is usual from Jämtlands, very easy to drink: It will accompany lighter food like a chicken salad very well. omhper (10454), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 8, 2005 Bottled. Clear golden, average head. Rich aroma of citric hops with buttery malt beneath. Fruity and medium bodied with rich malt sweetness and dense, soft mouthfeel, typical Jämtland style excellent malt character! On top of that there’s balanced grassy, citric hops, leading to pleasantly bitter finish.
Not spectacular in any way, but a thoroughly well made and inspired lager.
Would be a lovely beer to drink a sunny spring day when the snow starts to melt, too bad it’s -6C and really windy right now... rlgk (3014), Motala, Sweden Mar 8, 2005 Updated: Apr 21, 2005Golden, quite ok white head. Wonderful aroma from toffee and butter, and with somhops coming through. Flavor brings toffee again, malty, buttery and with a nice bitterness. This lager brings that typical "Jämtlands. feeling" that makes beers from this brewery so good. A bitter finish adds to the good impression. pilsnerrogge (1589), Finspång, Sweden Apr 7, 2005 Golden colour. Nice head. Rich, smooth buttery aroma. Buttery, malty caramel-flavour. Medium bitterness with a salty liquorice-touch. Kåstå (1144), Mol, Belgium Mar 27, 2005 Blond beer with a medium head. The aroma is mainly toffee with hints of fruit. The taste is light bitter and quite sweet. This is again an excellent brew from Pilgrimstad.
