Representing the darker side of Shandy, Jack-OTraveler is an alluring beer illuminated by the tastes of fall. He strikes the perfect balance between bright refreshment and seasonal spice. Jack is brewed with fresh pumpkin, for a delicious, dark hued, Shandyinspired beer.

Hazy deep copper with a thin white head. Over sweet nose with artificial pumpkin spice sweetness, lots of clove, and a hint of lemon. Sweet and nearly cloying body with fake pumpkin, too much clove, a smack of sweet ginger, a little wheaty lemony undertone, and a cinnamon/clove/allspice sugary finish. Bad.

Jack-O Traveler Shandy has a medium, off-white head, a mostly clear, bronze appearance, a few bubbles breakomh off and up, and moderate lacing left behind. The aroma is of pumpkin spice and pie crust (in other words, pumpkin pie). The taste is also of pumpkin pie, with pie crust, nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin pulp, with some background lemon showing up at the end. Mouthfeel is medium, and Jack-O Traveler finishes semi-dry and easy drinking. RJT

A fair amount of spice in the nose, but then the flavor couldn’t produce a clean profile. Sweetish and drinkable, it’s absolutely fine if you like the sense of fake flavors. (at 2015 Summer Beer Dabbler, St. Paul, MN)

Nice caramel color, almost like an apple cider. Very flavorful with tastes of apple spice, caramel, cinnamon, and of course pumpkin. Well blended; none of the flavors overpowered the others. Terrific palate with refreshing carbonation. Excellent choice for a warmer fall day and holidays. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very interesting pumpkin, maybe slightly overdone. Pours a cloudy Amber. Smells and tastes of candied pumpkin, not especially natural, but interesting. Very sweet finish. Had on tap at Bay Area Brew Fest 2015.

Sample at the Great Nebraska Beer Festival. Hazy orange amber color. Aroma of light spice. Taste has soft spice. Probably one of the best pumpkin shandys of the day for me.

Bottled version. Six pack from Table and Vine. Pours out a clear deep amber color. Frothy off-white head fades quickly. Sweet, vegital aromas and flavor. Not your typical pumpkin beer. Thin in the middle and on the finish. A little too sweet for me.

12 ounce bottle from Wegman’s Lake Manassas. Hazy amber, thin foamy tan head, poor retention. Aroma of pumpkin spice, pumpkin, apple. The taste is wheat, spice, pumpkin, hints of lemon. Thin bodied. Solid.

Bottle. A- Pumpkin pie, spices. A- Brown color, hazy liquid, tan head. T- Pumpkin pie, spices, subtle lemon. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- I have been pretty unimpressed with the Traveler beers so far and I’d hoped I’d like them as I love a good shandy. After a lot of letdowns I still decided to go for this as it was the first pumpkin beer I saw for the fall...and all be damned. It’s not half bad. Looked like sewage water but it sure tasted alright! Like a nice slice of pumpkin pie and an unusual hint of lemon but not in a bad way. This is one pumpkin beer I could drink. Not too sweet, not artificial tasting, but just right. Well done.

Bottle. Nose is big pie spice, cinnamon, Sprite. Nice enough nose. Orange-brown, a bit hazy, lace, bubbly. Sweet shandy flavor, 7-Up, pumpkin pie, sweet and soda-like. Not terrible, but not a beer. No thanks.
