On cask. Black pour with dull aroma. Roasted malts dominant. Thin mouthfeel for the style. Not good and very boring.

Appearance: black, scant head,
Aroma: light dark chocolate aroma with a light oak bitterness,
Flavor: dark chocolate flavor, hint of fruity sweetness, lots of oak adds bitterness and dryness, growing vanilla adds the needed sweetness, lasting oak finish,
Overall: ok in its own right but the regular version is better,
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 12/20

Feb 12, 2008 Appearance: Opaque black body with a tiny, bubbled tan head.
Smell: Licorice and... hmm. Something off that I’d categorize as being between a clean medical-grade plastic and a fine purveryor of fine rubber products, like Eddie’s Trick Shop.
Taste: Ugh. Tastes the same way, too.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: I’m completely convinced something went awry here.

Jan 31, 2008 This could have been pretty good. There was plenty of maltiness and roast, but there was this annoying plastic flavor mixed in with the chocolate that bothered me.

Jan 29, 2008 Cask Ale Fest Sweetwater, Atlanta. Poured very dark. Aroma of chocolate and fruit. Also a strange rubber(?) smell. Taste was great, with plenty of malt and chocolate. Body was perfectly carbonated with a creamy texture.
