aracauna (2221), Georgia, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours a blackened mahogany. Again a weak aroma but bigger flavor. Good chocolate and just a touch of coffee and brown sugar. I like it. Ingy (99), candler, North Carolina, USA Feb 21, 2008 cask @ Dirty Jacks. Black, good head, minimal carbonation. Coffee, chocolate, malt, swwet and smooth. Quite enjoyable! NicerInPerson (334), North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Feb 20, 2008 6% ABV - served on Cask.
The aroam was roasty with a nice chocolate nature, nutty, toasty and grainy with a bit of coffee and light caramel. The beer arrived clear yet deep black with a tannish frothy head which laced the glass from top to bottom. The flavor was filled with a nice chocolate, milk chocolate, with a light roasty nature and a bit of graininess. Light caramel was notable with any appreciable sweetness. The finish was nice and dry with a toasty and lightly roasty flavor into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a very creamy texture on the palate. A very nice porter! Handpull at Dirty Jacks. Nose: Faint chocolate. Not a lot in the aroma department.
Taste: Chocolate! hoppy, sweet, smooth, AMAZING.
Palate: A perfect 5
Overall: rather Murphy’s-esque. I could drink this particular Porter all night long, probably. Superb. BlackDonald (724), On a beer trip all over the USA, California, USA Jan 29, 2008 Nose of licorice and molasses, with some roasty coffee notes and a hint of chocolate. Creamy with an unnerving bitterness, but other than that quite drinkable.
