This beer was not our idea, it was a suggestion from an imaginative customer who noticed that we brew a good amount of beers with honey and a few with walnuts. What a great idea for a playful beer inspired by a customer an an iconic dessert. 120 pounds of local honey, 15 pounds of local black walnuts, cinnamon, and the zest of 30 lemons make this beer truly unique. This beer is fermented with our house Belgian yeast strain to give it a touch of clove and some nice subtle fruity complexity. Beer should be enjoyed and remembered. This is why quality and character are at the heart of every beer we produce.

Bottle from 2012 pour clear copper with moderate off white head. Nose sweet, honey, nuts, light funk. Taste sweet malt, Belgian candy, honey, and some lemon citrus. Light caramel. All of the flavors carry through the finish.

2012 bottle 65/192. Aroma is odd. Light cinnamon and lemon with a moderate amount of honey character. Medium esters of raisin, fig and light stone fruit. Pours a copper orange with a thin, light tan head that quickly recedes leaving only a thin film on the edges. Flavor is somewhat sweet with some fruit notes and moderate citrus. I donít get much cinnamon or walnuts at all. The lemon zest is the overwhelming flavor with some sweet honey notes. The citrus adds a moderate amount of acidity which was unexpected. A bit of a cider note as it warms. Honey also becomes much more prevalent as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low acidic astringency with medium low alcohol warmth. The braggot finishes drier than I was expecting which works well with the lemon zest and acidity. Overall it is interesting beverage but Iím not sure it is what a braggot is supposed to be and it certainly doesnít taste like baklava. Quit citrusy with a light acidity. I kind of like it, buts its odd as well. Really not sure how to rate this.

Clear deep gold with a bit of blush. Thin, quickly falling off-white head. Sweet fruity aroma. Faint maraschino cherry and honey. Very tart flavor, almost sour. I donít know what to make of it. I never tasted a Mead like this, actually I donít know how many Braggots Iíve had. For now, Iíll pass on having this one again.

Orangish pour, milky white head. Aroma of honey, spices and something odd...vegetal. Flavor is sour, old stone fruit, honey, spice. Infected or just nasty?

Bottle at the Colorado Mead Tasting í12, courtesy of Armin. Thanks Man! Pour is hazy amber with a light red tint and small white head; good lacing. Lemon peel, honey, a touch of spice, some cinnamon, and potpourri in the aroma. Taste is honey, allspice, a touch earthy, green apples, toffee, and bread with a lightly spicy finish. Medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Ok, but something is a bit off with this one.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, clear orange red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of walnuts, some sugary notes, hints of lemon, touch of interesting spice notes with some slight cinnamon. Taste is a mix of cinnamon, ginger, lemon, hints of earth, slight honey, touch of walnuts, finishing sweet, slightly bitter. Interesting...

2012 Colorado Mead Tasting at Arminís house. Thanks to Armin! Pours a peachy orange appearance with a small white head and some sediment. Big lemon zesty, grapefruity, apple, honey aroma. Fairly tart, a bit peppery, zesty lemon, apple flavor. Pretty strange but not bad.

Colorado mead tasting 2012 - turbid orange - nose is sweet and very herbal, tea-like - a bit of toasty grain character - apricot - flavor is of a tart Belgian ale with a touch of honey - pretty darn acidic, actually - too much so, and not even the honey balances - almost tastes a little infected, actually - sharp and rough all around - meh.
