This poured a murky brown color with an off white head. Aroma was strong alcohol, lots of caramel and toffee and some funk too. Flavor was very boozy, lots of caramel toffee, light hops and some sourness too, not sure if this was intentional but this was way too boozy

On tap a brew week in Athens. Barrel aged for some time, they say. This has got to be 12% or higher. Dark, with a creamy head. Very sweet aroma, with some of the fruit evident. Surprisingly light and very strong, with the alcohol warming all the way down.

July 17-19, 2008: Barbarlian is dark brown with an ivory-colored head. The aroma is quite good and contains sweet caramel, light bourbon, dark fruits, and what I would describe as malt extract. The flavor, however, isnt as good. It is dry and just tastes like plain malt extract syrup to me. This beer is medium-bodied. Overall it is decent, although the aroma definitely carries this beer...

Draught sample at Jackie-Os Pub and Brewery in Athens, Ohio during Ohio Brew Week 2008. Rating #2 for this beer.

Had this one on tap during brew week. I did not really enjoy this one that much. It seemed to be a little oxidized somehow. Had some dark fruits coming through but other than that it was a lot harder to drink than the other beers they had on tap.
